IS PADDLING UP STREAM HARD?

No. To go upstream, sticking closest to the bank is the easiest, it’s where the flow of the river current is the slowest. Also have you heard of an Eddie? info on eddies Basically on the inside of a bend the water flow will be stopped and will actually push you back up river against the flow. Cool ey? The main current flows at about 2km/h down the middle of the river or on the outside of the river bend, so avoid these areas when going up. But when going down stream, get in and go with it. The current is not to be feared, just utilised.

Here’s a map of the area, an example of where to paddle up river, red going up, blue going down.

WHAT DO WE WEAR?

Swimwear or active wear is most popular, something that may get wet. The concrete can be hot so thongs are recommended. Shoes and valuables can be locked in our bus or trailer but please note customers do so at their own risk. Bring a hat, some water (not on the sup board) and bring or put on sunscreen. To keep track of time, wear a waterproof watch, then you may have time for a quick stop at Moama beach under the bridge. From there it is 20min paddle. Toilet facilities are available at the pool.

WHERE DO WE START?

All SUP options start @ Maidens Inn Caravan Park. 30 Deniliquin St Moama. Park out the front of the caravan park on the road. Be sure not to block any cars, bins or gateways. Walk in the driveway, through the pool and jumping pillow area and out the other side to the marina. We will meet you along the foreshore near the bottom of the boat ramp.

HOW DOES THIS VENDING TRAILER WORK?

It’s contactless, self service and the adventure is all yours. The vending trailer is 10meters from the water and stores 14 paddle boards under PIN encrypted locks. Each door has an individual lock that is openable during the specific time slot you choose. So your next to the vending trailer and want to get a SUP board out. It’s really easy. Head to our booking page, put in your time and date, agree to the terms and pay. You will receive PIN numbers to your email to get your boards out instantly. To open the SUP Trailer, enter your PIN into the padlock and press the unlock button. It’s then time to ge out on the water and paddle.

DOES SELF HIRE INCLUDE THE COURTESY BUS?

No. Self hire using the vending trailer is a single location paddle. See if the whole family can stand up on a board or paddle solo as far as you can before turning and floating home. For the courtesy bus down river tours you need to call ahead and make sure the driver and courtesy bus are available for the time period you want, prior to making a booking.

WHERE DO WE FINISH THE DOWN RIVER COURTESY BUS OPTION?

The Down River Paddle is a 3.5 km paddle into Vic Park. The paddle finishes @ Victoria Park Reserve Boat Ramp, Scenic Drive, Echuca VIC 3564, where we pick you up in our courtesy bus and bring you back to your car. Heres a map of your journey. Maidens Inn and Vic Park are marked on upper right of this map.

DO I NEED A LIFE JACKET?

We have a full range of life jackets supplied as part of the hire and highly recommend you wear one. The hirer must wear a leg rope at all times until safely back on shore. Your board is your flotation device, so you must keep your leg rope attached. You and any of your participants that you sign for must be able to swim. If there is more than one person on a board, then the person without a leg rope must wear a life jacket. It is NOT a legal requirement to wear a life jacket on a SUP board unless;

  • you don’t have a leg rope attached.

  • you are under 10 years of age

  • and if there are wind warnings from BOM for the area.

HOW DO WE BOOK?

For self hire out of our vending trailer head to our booking page and put the date and time you want to go. It’s that easy. Next thing you’ll have an email in your inbox granting you access to your board.

HOW LONG DO WE PADDLE FOR?

For down river paddles allow two hours for the safety brief, launch, pick up and courtesy bus return. You will paddle for about an hour depending on wind direction. For self service, book an hour and we give you an hour and a half, allows time for you to get your board out and put it back. .

MASK’S AND SANITISING, STILL?

Mask are required to be worn on the courtesy bus, not on the board or while outside. Please hand sanitise before and after using the equipment.

WHAT SIDE OF THE RIVER DO I PADDLE ON?

When talking about the boating channel of the river, (in our area it’s about the middle two thirds of the waterway) we should be travelling to the right hand side. If we are near the bank where no other boats can motor you can go anyway you like. Please get out of the way of all boats. If it is safer for you to move to the left then you are allowed to move to the left bank to get out of the way.
